configure8 helps remove the dreaded engineering tool hoping. You can create single pane of glass views for your services or applications across the most popular tools used by engineering teams. You can quickly add and configure plug-ins for your services with any supported provider to build a cohesive view for your teams to manage, support and review.
configure8 supports various providers to consolidate live data from multiple tools to enrich your service catalog experience. These include
cloud provider related add-ons (eg., cost plug-ins),
repository provider add-ons (eg., repository activity plug-ins, workflows related plug-ins),
on-call management add-ons (eg., Pagerduty, Opsgenie plug-ins),
embedded metrics and graphs (eg., Datadog),
issue tracking add-ons (eg., Jira plug-ins),
code quality add-ons (eg., Sonarcloud),
Adding a plug-in to your service display additional information directly from the external tool provider on your service overview page. To add a plug-in to your service, start by selecting a service from your catalog Services listing.
From your service overview page, select the Add Plug-in button.
From the Plugins dialog, browse through the list of available plugins and select the one of your choice clicking on the Add button.
In the Plug-ins configuration wizard, select an existing credential to connect to the selected plugin provider. If you do not have an existing credential or would like to use a new credential, select the Add Credential button.
Once you have selected your credentials or created a new credential, select Next to continue to the Configuration step of the wizard.
On the Configuration step, enter the required information to link your plug-in to the external provider to display the real time information on your service overview page. Once you have entered all the required configuration information, select Done.
The configuration information required for each plug-in varies based on the external provider's integration requirements.
Your configured plug-in is added to the service overview page.
To remove a plug-in from your service overview page, start by selecting a service from your catalog Services listing.
From your service overview page, hover your cursor next to the Title of the plug-in on the service overview page until the Settings Gear appears. Click the Settings Gear to display the context menu.
The example below shows the Settings Gear displayed next to the Northwind GitHub - Actions plugin.
Select the Delete menu option to remove the plug-in from your service overview page.
To update the configuration of a plug-in on your service overview page, start by selecting a service from your catalog Services listing.
From your service overview page, hover your cursor next to the Title of the plug-in on the service overview page until the Settings Gear appears. Click the Settings Gear to display the context menu.
The example below shows the Settings Gear displayed next to the Northwind GitHub - Actions plugin.
Select the Edit menu option to update the configuration settings for your selected plug-in.
